Jason Burbo

Jason began studying guitar in 1982 with Glen Betcher, a former student of Joe Fava at Wayne State University in Detroit. In 1985, Jason began piano lessons with Virginia Streicher. In 1988, Jason was accepted as a student at the Music Academy of Basel, Switzerland where he studied classical guitar with Benjamin Bunch and piano with Kathi Jacobi.

In 1989, he enrolled in Ann Arbor’s Community High School, where he spent two years in Mike Grace’s award-winning Jazz program while taking private lessons with guitarist Steve Somers. Jason went on to earn a Bachelor of Music from Wayne State University where he studied with Lee Dyament, Steve Carryer, and Brian Roberts.

Jason has performed and recorded in a variety of bands including Minor Planets, Morsel, PostPrior, Sissy, and U.S. Sheep. He has toured throughout the United States and has been a recording artist on Small Stone Records and Ghostly International. He currently maintains a private lesson studio in Washtenaw County and performs regularly in a variety of musical projects.
